For those who wish to expand your qualifications within the arboricultural or ecological industries, we provide the Lantra approved Access a Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue.
Adam Young, our in-house Lantra instructor will guide you through the course, ensuring that you understand the health and safety requirements, climbing techniques and how to maintain and use climbing equipment.
The course will include the following criteria:
- Health & Safety requirements, including current legislation, Risk Assessments and method statements
- PPE, safe operation during climbing practises
- Equipment checks and knowledge conforming to LOLER
- A thorough Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) carried out prior to each climbing practise
- Various ascending methods and techniques to gain access into the tree, including throw lines, use of friction hitches, spiking, and ascending and descending devises.
- A range of knots that are commonly used during climbing operations whether it is for ascending or equipment attachment.
- Basic First Aid and emergency procedures
- A range of techniques to rescue a casualty from a tree.
The course requires the candidate to be physical fit and able to support their own body whilst performing aerial operations.
Upon completion of the 5 day training session you will be assessed by an external Lantra assessor, and if successful you will obtain an industry recognised qualification in tree climbing and aerial rescue.
