Bats and Trees CPD

Our Bats and Trees course is a multi-discipline course aimed at both arborists and ecologists.  This course will expand your knowledge of the habitats created within trees for our native bat species and the legislation which ensures their protection.

The course will begin as a theory session in the classroom and lead to a practical session within a woodland, where you will have the opportunity to undertake ground based inspections of potential tree roosts.

The course will include the following topics:

  • Legislation for the native bat species
  • Trees as a habitat
  • Potential roost features
  • Tree morphology and its association with PRFs
  • Tree dependant bat species
  • Bat roost types
  • Native bat species habitat
  • Woodland visual tree assessment
  • Woodland tree inspection with Endoscope

Upon completion of the Bat and trees course the candidates will be provided with a CPD certificate.

Please note: Although the course will give the candidates the opportunity to use an endoscope to undertake internal inspections of potential tree roosts, it will not permit the use of endoscopes without a level 2 bat licence outside of the course structure.
